Meet Our CEO
Angela G. Jiménez was born in High Point, NC, and was reared in Public Housing in the City of High Point. Ms. Jiménez was deeply affected by the stereotyping of residents of Public Housing and has always persevered to be her very best. She has diligently worked to not only overcome the stigma attached to Public Housing and its residents, but to demonstrate to her children and those she encounters a different life achieved through hard work and determination.
Ms. Jiménez received her high school diploma in Gainesville, Florida, certification from Brookstone College and served in the U.S. Army prior to attending High Point University where she received both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees.
In 2003, Ms. Jiménez began her career with the Housing Authority of the City of High Point serving in several different capacities before being promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer. From this position, she accepted the office of Executive Director of the Rockingham Housing Authority, in Rockingham, NC. She returned to the HPHA in November 2010 to serve in her current position of Chief Executive Officer.
Ms. Jiménez made history by becoming the Housing Authority of the City of High Point’s first female to head the agency since its inception on January 4, 1940. In addition, she was a former program participant of the Housing Authority in which she now serves as the CEO.
She holds numerous certifications, licenses and designations within the housing industry, which include, but are not limited to, HUD Public Housing & Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Programs, Tax Credits, Mixed Finance, Assisted Housing Management, Housing Development Finance Professional, North Carolina Realtor, Real Estate Broker in Charge, Certified Property Manager (CPM), Accredited Residential Manager (ARM), Graduate, REALTOR Institute (GRI), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Certified Housing Counselor, Homeownership Counseling and Education, North Carolina Workforce Specialist and North Carolina Notary.
Additionally, she has served on various commissions and boards which include the following: City of High Point Human Relations Commission, Chair; Total Family Focus Board, Vice Chair; Board member of: YWCA of Greater High Point, High Pont University Alumni Association, American Red Cross High Point-Thomasville Chapter, Partners Ending Homelessness, Welfare Reform Liaison Project (WRLP), Alcohol and Drug Services (ADS), Carolina Council of Code and Redevelopment Officials (CCHRCO), Commissioners’ Support Services & Commissioner Conference Committee, Board of Directors of CCHRCO, and a member of the Piedmont Study Group.
She currently serves on the CCHRCO Legislative Committee, City of High Point Planning & Zoning Commission, Salvation Army Advisory Board, United Way of Greater High Point, and the Southeastern Regional Council-National Association of Housing Redevelopment Officials (SERC-NAHRO) Legislative Committee.
Ms. Jiménez is a recipient of the following awards: 2009 Business Woman Extraordinaire of High Point, NC, 2010 Women Pioneers of the Triad, 2010 Business Leader, Carl Chavis YMCA 2012 Minority Achievers’ Corporate Executive and 2010 Triad Movers & Shakers. Additionally, she is a 2010 Pillars of Fame honoree, recognized as Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, a graduate of Leadership High Point and City Government 101 and a member of National Association of Female Executives.
