Public Housing

Subsidized / Public Housing / Section 8 New Construction

The Housing Authority takes pride in the 900 Public Housing units and 101 Section 8 New Construction units it owns and manages in the City of High Point.

Public housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing comes in all sizes and types, from scattered single family houses to high rise apartments for elderly families.

We offer several different floor plans; one to five bedrooms, accompanied by several apartment-style options; garden, duplex, town-home and high-rise apartments in the city of High Point.

Occupancy Guidelines

It is the HPHA’s policy that families of the appropriate size should occupy the units. This policy maintains the usefulness of the units, while preserving them from excessive wear and tear or under-utilization.

The following general unit maximum and minimum number of persons per unit will govern the assignment of a family of a provided size and composition. These are only guidelines and the maximums may be exceeded at the request of the family, or because of the square footage of a specific unit.
